Rumble Controls for the Ford Mustang?

August 12th, 2013

social.ford-4Ford has added an innovative twist to the Mustang – a vibrating shift knob that tells you when to change gears! Check out the article from Ford Social below!

If you’ve ever played a video game, you know that the controller is an invaluable tool, capable of sending physical feedback, like a vibration, without you having to take your eyes off the screen.

What if that kind of technology moved to cars? Imagine if the controller – in this case, the manual shift knob – could tell you through vibration when to shift? Maybe you’re new to using a manual transmission, or just want to know the optimum time to shift if you’re looking for the best fuel economy?

A Sustainable Future at Ford

August 12th, 2013

social.ford-3At Borgman, we understand the importance of maintaining our environment. Ford understands, and has made significant strides in sustainable practices. Check out this article from Ford Social to see what the Blue Oval is doing to keep it green!

In a world with finite resources, everyone has the opportunity to protect our shared future through sustainable choices. When Ford looks towards that future, it envisions all of us living, playing and working in a Greentopia.

Let’s take a second to break that down, as Greentopia is not a term many people encounter on a daily basis. Green is used in the environmental sense, not the color, and topia comes from the Greek word for place. So a Greentopia is a place where the environment is thriving.

Ford: From Doodle to Driveway

July 29th, 2013

Car PrototypeBack in 1951, conversations began about having a “true Ford sports car.” It wasn’t long before “paper sports cars” were created in the Ford design studios in an effort to have this new car in production for the 1955 model year. May 1, 1953, became the target date for a full-size clay model of this future Ford: the Thunderbird. But it wasn’t actually until May 18 of that same year when a complete, painted clay model that closely resembled what would eventually become the final version of the first T-bird was finally done.

Creating future vehicles by way of sketch and clay model continues today. The process allows engineers and designers to experiment with everything from looks to aerodynamics. Even when it came to reducing noise in the new Ford Escape, engineers made changes to the vehicle’s shape, notably the mirrors and A-pillar, during the clay model stage to test theories and validate expected results.

Starting Your Ford With A Smartphone

June 24th, 2013

Smartphone KeyfobYou can do some pretty amazing things with smartphones these days. In a world where your phone can be – among other things – an encyclopedia, GPS and a personal assistant, Ford is entering a new frontier of mobile technology with the Remote Access application for select Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

This aftermarket add-on from Ford Custom Accessories turns your iPhone or Android device into a virtual keyfob. With the Remote Access app, you can lock, unlock and even remote start your vehicle from across the parking lot, or across the country. You can even use the Find feature to flash the lights and honk the horn if, perhaps, you don’t remember exactly where you left it at the mall.

Did you leave your car in one of those big airport parking decks or in a sketchy-looking lot downtown? The Remote Access app also helps you rest a little easier with optional email/text security alerts. That’s right, your car can text or email you to check in and let you know if there’s a security breach.
